Fat chance? Bust fat in baking by making a switch. Replace processed oils and butter with healthy substitutes:
- In cream pies, add evaporated skim milk or almond/soy milk,1 egg, and ½ can of pumpkin puree blended in a food processor instead of oil, butter and cream.
- In other baking (loaves, muffins), combine coconut milk or applesauce or raw shredded zucchini with 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, processed in a blender, instead of oil.
- In creamy sauces and dips, combine silken soft tofu and cashew butter in a blender instead of cream, butter and oil.
- In no-heat pudding/custard, replace cream and butter by combining mashed avocado with 2 tablespoons of coconut oil. You can also replace the avocado with mashed banana (if less ripe, you will avoid their banana flavour).
